Our Heavy Bloom Purple Marans are bred for exceptionally dark eggs with intense natural bloom, creating the sought-after “purple” appearance collectors and dark-egg enthusiasts love. This price INCLUDES shipping.
We will start hatching in March. You’ll be added onto a hatch list. Please do not purchase these if you aren’t comfortable with a long wait list. We will be hatching these through June. Shipping is weather dependent. All chicks are shipped with gro-gel and a heat pack.
What Makes a “Purple” Egg?
The eggshell itself is brown—the purple tone comes from a heavy waxy bloom layered over a very dark base color.
When fresh, this bloom diffuses light and gives eggs a dusty plum, lavender, or deep wine hue. As eggs age or are washed, the bloom wears off and the underlying shell color shows through.
👉 Bloom is not permanent, and depth varies by hen, environment, nutrition, and season. We recommend giving your hen a balanced diet and calcium for strong eggshell production.
Important Expectations
Not all birds will produce a heavy bloom or purple appearance
Egg color intensity can vary hen to hen
Bloom expression may fluctuate throughout the laying year

Minimum order: 6 chicks
Maximum order: 10 chicks per shipment
Orders outside this range cannot be fulfilled
Chicks are shipped only when weather conditions are safe for transit
Tracking information will be provided once shipped

Live Arrival / DOA Policy
We take every precaution to ensure our day-old chicks are shipped safely and humanely. However, once chicks leave our care, conditions during transit are outside of our control.
If Chicks Arrive Deceased (DOA)
Any DOA must be reported within 2 hours of pick up.
Clear photos are required of:
The deceased chick(s) — all must be in one photo
The shipping box
The shipping label visible in the same photo
Photos must be submitted before disposal of the chick(s).
Resolution
A refund or store credit will be issued only for the DOA chick(s), at our discretion.
Shipping costs are non-refundable, as shipping is included in the purchase price. Your refund will be pro-rated per chick cost.
No refunds will be issued for chicks that die after arrival.
Exclusions
We are not responsible for losses due to:
Delayed pickup by the customer
Failure to retrieve chicks promptly upon delivery
Improper brooding conditions after arrival
